Linds - “I've been a heating engineer for the last 30 years but always enjoyed exercise (apart from running )… whether it's been step aerobics (when leotards were a thing!) or Olympic lifting through CrossFit. This year I wanted to challenge myself and learn about the other side of exercise from a teaching point of view. I have just completed my Level 2 in Gym based exercise. I've thoroughly enjoyed the classes I've taken so far.”
Sarah - “I have always enjoyed exercise, for the majority of my childhood I competed regularly in modern freestyle dance competitions & Nationwide Finals. I have a new found enjoyment for running and I took part in the GNR last year! I have recently done my level 2 gym instructor course & later this month I am off to The Hatton Boxing Academy to train so I can coach boxing for fitness classes. When I’m not in the gym you’ll find me with my 2 little boys, Bert & Frank and my husband Chris. I look forward to seeing some of you at my barbell circuits & boxing classes. Fun Fact - I actually really like burpees! 🤪"
Vicky - "Having spent 28 years working in social care a few years ago, I made a change and retrained to become a clinical Reflexologist. I have recently added Reiki as a treatment and in May this year completed my 200 hours yoga teacher training. I currently run a regular outdoor class and an Unwind/Yoga Nidra class. I used to compete in triathlons and have completed a Lakeland 50 Ultra run event. You’ll find me outside, usually with my trusty Labrador running, walking, wild camping paddling, swimming, biking and cold water dipping… love the great outdoors!"
Niamh - “Hi! I’m Niamh and I run Velvære Wellness here in Cumbria! Velvære is a state of holistic well-being, creating harmony in mind, body and spirit. After graduating from a dance degree in 2020 I know I wanted to pursue a career in health and fitness, so decided to train as a mat pilates instructor. I began teaching in early 2024 and combine my love for high intensity work, ballet training and Pilates knowledge to create fun and fiery classes that will work muscles you didn’t even know you had... who said Pilates was easy? I also teach barre and aerial hoop and I am training in reformer Pilates to widen my repertoire. I have training in working with specialist populations including pre and post natal, lower back pain management, exercise referral and adapting exercise for older adults. I can offer 1-1, small private group and programme design.”Lindsy - “I've been a heating engineer for the last 30 years but always enjoyed exercise (apart from running )… whether it's been step aerobics (when leotards were a thing!) or Olympic lifting through CrossFit. Helen - "I started off being a riding instructor, then moved on to fitness! I took up exercise after I had my kids and I put a lot of weight on. After avoiding the gym for the first 26 years of my life I decided I actually really enjoyed it different classes, but didn't like just training in a gym. I went on to qualify in most of the Les Mills programs, plus Boxercise, Kickboxercise and most other classes you can think of I then went on to do some CrossFit. I then got my Personal Trainer qualification and when Covid came round I ended up opening Redhills Barn Fitness in a shed in the garden. We now have an amazing community and I still have members with me that have followed me from when I very first started. I love being outdoors, and can generally be found with an animal very close by!"
Hannah - "Hi! I’m Hannah and I’m a full time business manager, born and bred in Penrith. I’ve always enjoyed exercise and have found it to be something that has helped me massively with my self-confidence and mental health throughout my life. Last year after completing the London Marathon (slowly but surely), I completed a level 2 in Gym Instructing and began a level 3 in Personal Training. Exercise makes me feel unstoppable and my goal is for everyone to experience that feeling. We all deserve to feel confident enough to move our bodies in a way that makes us feel good, no matter what our age, ability or experience level."
